MAY B. + CHRIS SILAS NEAL

I haven't talked about my work at Schwartz & Wade Books yet. MAY B., by Caroline Starr Rose, and Illustrated by Chris Silas Neal, was recently published. I had long wanted to work with Chris, and this book gave me the opportunity. Chris wrote about the process of illustrating this jacket on his blog a while back.
UPDATE: Here's another interview with Chris about his process.

SKETCHES OF BABY, BEFORE BABY

I was looking back at some sketches I made while I was pregnant, and it's humorous to see how I visualized having a baby. In one image Alex is under the table, in a basket. There are other baskets nearby, one of some fish, one of plants. He's just one of our things that we keep in a basket which is rather close to a large body of water. In the other image, he's just one of our things again. . . like we're adding to our collection of stuff.

NESTING

Thinking about home a lot these days.

LEANNE SHAPTON

The palette and simplicity of these paintings have me gasping for air.

GUN + KNIFE + CHESTER

Today my friend Nora had a big group of ladies over for apple tarts, tea and drawing.
I drew some guns and knives, and a portrait of a dear friend's dog who passed away after 18 years.

This seems appropriate for today. It was snowing a little bit.
Rob Dunlavey is an incredible artist.
